Aircraft Structural Engineer III

What you do

  • Analyzes structure as classical static Stress Analysis and Finite Element analysis of metallic and composite airframe structure, in both a development and certification-oriented environment
  • Prepares stress notes, formal engineering analysis reports, test plans, and test reports
  • Supports analytical cross functional, internal liaison, and potential for direct liaison/support with external supplier companies and the airworthiness authorities
  • Supports the design of major and minor repairs to metallic airframe structures for specific customer aircraft and standard repairs for the aircraft repair manual
  • Static and fatigue substantiation of minor/major repairs and modifications to metallic airframe structures using traditional and FE analysis methods, plus safe life and damage tolerant analysis
  • Participates in regular exchange and coordinates technical issue resolution with the Pilatus Aircraft OEM Engineering in Switzerland
  • Writes and reviews technical memos, procedure instructions, engineering reports and analysis, and other documentation
  • Maintains all required documents to travel outside the U.S. and ability to travel on short notice
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director Engineering

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in aeronautical or mechanical engineering (focus structural analysis)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in airframe stress and FDT analysis in supporting repairs
  • Familiarity with NASTRA, FEMAP, or similar packages and FDT tools (e.g. AFGROW)
  • Experience in use of Siemens Solid Edge / NX and Teamcenter applications
  • Pilatus PC-12/PC-24 or similar type experience highly desirable
  • Familiarity with CS/FAR Part 23
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and being accustomed to working directly with operators, service centers, and authorities
  • Demonstrated project management and task prioritization skills, self-disciplined, capable of handling multiple, simultaneous projects and tasks with minimal supervision
  • Must qualify as a U.S. person in compliance with ITAR 22 CFR 120.62
